ABOUT US

Illusion II has been located in the Virgin Islands since 1980 where she has been owned and operated by Roger and Ellen Perkins as a crewed charter yacht. A future owner could easily step into this turn-key business.

Roger Perkins sailed from England in 1979 to circumnavigate the world. Arriving in the Caribbean, he was so taken with the beautiful islands and the prospects of living and working a dream lifestyle, he purchased Illusion II and decided to stay and share this way of life with others. Roger is a skilled engineer and enthusiastic sailor, who worked in the boat building industry in Guernsey for many years. He loves to help others learn and appreciate the finer points of sailing, and he is an avid windsurfer and SCUBA diver. Ashore, Roger is often found working on his hobby MGB and his collection of British motorcycles.

Ellen (aka.Ronnie) Perkins hails from Southern California where in 1982 she left the bustling lifestyle and a career in real estate to pursue dreams of sailing the high seas. After several ocean passages crewing as navigator and cook on various yachts, she met Roger and Illusion II. Now Ellen is happily showing their guests the underwater world as well as treating them to her second love--gourmet cuisine.

Roger and Ellen own a home in Lompoc, California where they reside during the Caribbean hurricane season.

LOCATION OF THE YACHT

Illusion II operates out of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Occasionally we will schedule "Down Island" charters which will include the Leeward Islands down to Antigua and perhaps as far south as Bequia. During hurricane (June-Nov.) season,  Illusion II is hauled out in the Virgin Gorda Shipyard.

Charters usually begin in either Red Hook, St. Thomas (fly into St. Thomas), or Tortola, B.V.I. (fly into Beef Island, Tortola). A weeks charter would visit most of the British and some of the U.S. Virgin Islands depending on pick-up point.

Entries from Illusion II's Guest Log

"Thank you for a true vacation. Truely appreciate not having to cook as well as being spoiled with a delicious menu! The week went by all to fast. It is wonderful having time with you and my family without all the distractions of our busy life. Thanks for your cheer and good spirits."
                                     Ann O. Boston, Mass.

"What a sailing adventure! Could never believe two weeks could go so quickly. It has been a relaxing experience for both of us. We have seen and done more things than we ever thought possible. Believe it or not, you have whetted our appetite for more. Who know what we will do next."
Carl H. Mountain View, Ca. (after two charters with us, they        purchased their own sail boat)
